Description: A bronze statue of a cowboy riding a bucking horse on a Colorado granite base.

Cast : Gorham Foundry

Location: Central Plaza, Civil Park, Denver, Colorado, United States.

History : Sculptor Alexander Phimster Proctor was commissioned to create two statues for the Denver Civic Center the Broncho Buster and the On The War Trail. The bronze cowboy and horse statue was presented to the city by Stephan Knight and John Kernan Mullen in 1920.
Proctor used Slim Ridings as his model for the cowboy but there was one catch, Slim was caught for horse rustling and thrown in jail. Proctor had to bail him out so he could complete his work.

Bronco Buster (Bill "Slim" Ridings)

I came upon this site while doing some research. Bill (The Buckaroo) Ridings happens to be my wife's grandfather. Her father was Bill Ridings II, she has a brother named Bill Ridings III and his son's name is Bill Ridings IV. My wife's name is Barbara Binette (Ridings). I love the angle shots of The Buckaroo on this site. Thanks.
