Artist's Statement
"Albatross Trainer" is just that, a flight trainer for albatross,
Like a child walker that supports a child learning to walk, it supports the albatross in space
while the bird re-learns to fly.
The work is a metaphor for the support we need to give endangered birds like the albatross. The
birds are clearly strapped in. Without the supports they would fall from the sky. The downside of
any support ecology is a restriction of freedom.
This work addresses the relationship between land, sea and air and the relationship between man and
nature.
"What's an albatross like you doing in a place like this"
Greer Twiss - 2005
