Description: Two brightly painted tree stumps named Fred and Mary.

Location: Located on the Great Southern Highway between The Lakes and York in Western Australia.

History: The Fred and Mary tree stumps have bemused motorists for years and have become an important landmark for the area. Unfortunately poor old Fred was burnt to the ground in a nasty act of vandalism in 2004. The community was so saddened by the loss of Fred that a cross was erected and local school children left messages and flowers at its base.
