The New Force

This 12 tonne iron ore boulder epitomises the enduring spirit and determination of the people who made and are making he Fortescue a Company we are all proud of. It comes from Fortescue's flagship mine, Cloudbreak, which is 1,332 kilometers from here in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Its iron ore mineralisation is part of the Marra Mamba Iron formation , typical of the Pilbara.

Cloudbreak was discovered in 2004 by Fortescue and this rock is displayed so that the natural layers are orientated the same state as when it sat naturally in the ground.

Unlike most major companies , all of the Fortescue's billions of tonnes of iron ore comes from its new discoveries.

A piece of this rock was sent to the laboratory and the following grades were returned :
64.1% Iron
0.96% Alumina
4.06% Silica
0.02% Phoshorous
2.99% Loss On Ignition
66.0% Calcined Iron

Mining commenced in 2008 and at the time of erecting this statue, 120 million tonnes of Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek iron ore has been exported through Fortescue's Herb Elliot Port, laying the foundation for a new great Australian Company.

This rock was placed here on the 27th of October 2011 and its affectionately called Greg Almighty.
