Khenko Sculpture

Khenko sculpture, Vancouver

Public Art : Khenko Sculpture

Sculptor : © Doug Taylor

Description : Khenko is a wire sculpture which depicts a heron having just dined on a fish. The poor fish is visible in it's belly.  Four large sails move the sculpture gently with the wind giving it the appearance of flight. The sculpture is a symbol of hope and restoration, as the birds and wildlife, which left the area when industry moved in, are slowly but surely returning.

Funded by : Concord Pacific and is dedicated to former Lieutenant Governor David Lam.

Date unveiled: The Khenko sculpture was installed in 2006

Location : George Wainborn Park, Vancouver, Canada.
