Description : Andrew Patterson used  Volcanic bluestone from Pukatutu Island, fired glass and volcanic pumicestone from Hinuera to create the fountain that was designed to represent Auckland's volcanic past. The site of the fountian is near a lava terrace that was formed about 2,000 years ago when a volcano near Victoria St erupted. At night you can enjoy a red and orange light show which happens on a 15 minute cycle.

Unveiled : 1994

Location : The Patterson fountain is located in Freyberg Square near the statue of Lord Freyberg.
