Public Art: The Arbour Sculpture (AKA
The Doorway)
Sculptor: © Anne Neil
Date: 2003
Description: A laser cut steel doorway
which is designed to cast shadows on the ground by day and then light up like a lantern at night. It is
inspired by embroidery design which is clear when you see the light casting shadows through its intricate
patterns. If you stand underneath the arbour you are greeted with a warm welcome.

Location: In the Coal Dam Park next to the Woodbridge
Lakes, Midland, Western Australia.
Commissioned by: Midland Redevelopment Authority
History: The Coal Dam Park was established as part of
the Midland Redevelopment Authority initiative. As part of the program the Authority commissioned various artists
to create public art that would reflect the history and growth of the area. Anne Neil has three sculptures
represented in Coal Dam Park, The Arbour, Shovels and the Animals sculptures which are all inspired by the theme of "nesting".
