Description : 5m high brushed aluminium sculpture.

Date Unveiled : 2010

Location : The Toi Tu Whenua sculpture can be found at a rest area near the Tarukenga entryway into Rotorua , New Zealand. Please be careful if you decide to take a photograph as it is on a main road.

Artist Statement : Lewis Gardiner said his work was inspired by the whakatauki (proverb) "whatungarongaro te tangata toi tu te whenua," - "as man disappears from sight, the land remains".
