What Was Here?

When I was wandering around Matamata in search of public art I came across this empty niche. I assume at some stage a statue resided inside it. The only clue to the mysterious missing statue is the sculptor's name, Anne De Silva, and that it was created in 2006, during the Matamata Sculpture Symposium. I'm going to take a stab in the dark and suggest it maybe Frodo or one of the Hobbits, seeing as the  Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed nearby. Any thoughts?
