William Theed the Younger

Sculptor : Theed, William - the Younger (1804 – 9th September 1891)

Background : William was born in England the son of sculptor William Theed the Elder.

Notes of Interest : He was a Royal family favorite. Initially trained by his father, William studied at the Royal Academy Schools (1820) before studying in Rome (1826) under Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen , Italian Pietro Tenerani, John Gibson and Richard James Wyatt. In 1861 he was appointed by Queen Victoria to make the death mask of Prince Albert.
